“Map Pack 1″ is the first set of maps that was made available for Call of Duty: World at War. It was announced on March 18, 2009 and expanded the game by adding four new maps. Three of the maps were for online multiplayer and one was for the Zombies game mode. Until now there has only currently been one Zombie map which was fairly basic and the new Zombie map really opens the door for the game mode.
Xbox-360: March 19, 2009

Below are a list of the maps:
Nightfire: Fighting through the burning streets of berlin. Lots of destroyed buildings and fire! Firey urban warfare!
Knee Deep: Takes place on the lisland of Peleliu in a small village which has been run down by Japanese occupation. Lots of places to fight and well balanced gameplay. Great for all types of players and combat types.
Station: Takes place in a desolate and destroyed underground train station. The map includes many secret passageways, deserted train cars and specific sniper spots.
Verrückt: A brand new zombie map which takes place in a zombie asylum on the outskirts of Berlin. Offers brand new weapons, perks and traps! Much bigger than the previous “Nacht der Untoten” map too. A really good zombie map! The Verruckt map was also made available in the Rezurrection map pack DLC for Black Ops.
Xbox-360: 800 Microsoft Points
The map pack was released initally for Xbox-360 and Playstation 3 with promises that the PC version would be released later. At the time there was no effective way to offer the map pack to PC users unless they sold the maps by physical disk which would be a lot of effort. Instead Treyarch made the map pack free for PC users but released it about a month later than the PS3 and Xbox-360 versions.
The resurgence package is the second DLC map pack from Infinity Ward for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Like the Stimulus package it includes 5 more maps for the popular game.
Release Date: June 06, 2010
As with the Stimulus package, two of the maps included are from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and 3 are brand new. Infinity Ward says that they include maps from their old games since they want to bring back the maps that people really like most.
The maps included in the Resurgence package include:
From the previous Modern Warfare: Vacant. This is set in a small, single floor Russian office building. Small corridors make for good close quarters combat and the large delivery bay which looks out onto garden area allows for good long range combat. A really good tatical and fun map.
Again from the previous Modern Warfare: Strike. A large open map set in a urban desert town. Lots of ways to get around the map and lots of opportunities to encounter enemies. It has been given a green look though since the original Modern Warfare and a few areas tweaked to improve gameplay.
The first brand new map is Carnival. Set in a desolate and abandoned amusement park it has awesome vantage points for snipers and Infinity Ward said it is like nothing they have ever done before.
Next we have Trailer Park. This map contains lots of narrow corridoors and close quarter combat areas. Set in an mobile home trailer park. This is the smallest map in the Resurgence package.
Lastly we have Fuel. A map set around an oil refinery which has been strategically seperated by a large open sniper area and a large warehouse with tight coridoors for fast action combat. The map is as big as the Stimuls package map Overgrown.
Prices: £10.99 or 1200 Microsoft points
The Stimulus Package is the first DLC Map pack that is availabile for Modern Warfare 2. The package contains 5 multiplayer maps, 3 of which are brand new and 2 which have been resurrected from Call of Duty 4.
Release Date: May 04, 2010
The maps available are as follows:
From the first modern warfare we have Overgrown. This map really is snipers galore, its a small town that is completely overgrown with trees and wildlife. Fantastic for sniping and secret ambushes.
Again from the first modern warfare we have Crash. This map is based around a crashed US Helicopter at the centre of the map. It includes a few good sniping positions and involves very urban warfare.
Storm is the first brand new map available in the package. It takes place in a deserted factory, a fairly small map with a couple of good sniping postisions, good close quarters combat and more. Very good map for gametypes such as headquarters and capture the flag.
Salvage is set in a vehicle scrap yard where majority of the map is made up of stacked cars. It has been completely covered by snow too with two main buildings on each side of the map.
Bailout is another fun map, based around a convoy of tanks along a big street, fights occur between the large buildings either side of the street or up and down the road. Seems like a fairly basic map but it offers alot.
Price: £10.99 or 1200 Microsoft points
The Variety Map Pack is the only DLC map pack availabile for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It was also the first time that the Call of Duty franchise has released a DLC. Previously when the Call of Duty series was to be expanded it would be done through the use of an expansion pack but this method was only viable while Call of Duty was unique to the PC.
Xbox 360: April 4, 2008
Playstation 3: April 24, 2008
PC: June 5, 2008
The Variety Map Pack includes 3 brand new and unique maps with one which is a re-vamped version of a Call of Duty 2 map. They are as follows:
Broadcast: A large map set inside a middle eastern TV station. Great combat areas and overall a very well build map. The map is orientated from the campaign missions.
Creek: A massive map, one of the best for snipers. Battles take place over the creek at long ranges but can be settled inside the creek or through the passages connecting either side.
Chinatown: A refurbishment of the extremely popular map “Carentan” from Call of Duty 2. The whole map is almost identical except instead of the standard world war 2 theme it used to have it has been completely changed to become in the heart of china. Definatley a close quarters combat map.
Killhouse: By far the smallest in the map pack. It takes places in the training facility you see in the first mission of the campaign. The size is on par with the Shipment map and allows users to engage in extremely close quarters combat! The guard tower in the middle gives an overview of the whole map but climbing the ladder up can be dangerous.
The DLC was made free with an update for PC users since their was at the time no effecitve way to distribute the package while at the same time charging users for the content.
Xbox 360: £6
Playstation 3: £6
Treyarch has pushed out a free update for Xbox, PS3 and PC users with many bug fixes and a “new” map. The map is basically the same as the old one “Makin” except its at day time instead of night. Its a nice little addition to the game considering it is free!
Release date: February 26, 2009 and Feburary 6, 2009 for PC
Makin: A costal village. Lots of wooden huts and hiding places, close combat and ranged combat between huts!.
