Modern Warfare 3 New Map Leaked: Terminal to return?

Since the Modern Warfare 3 DLC season started, we assumed the Nostalgic Map Pack which was teased a while before had hit a brick wall. Then, the idea of the Nostalgic Map Pack coming to Modern Warfare 3 was kocked back even further when an Infinity Ward developer confirmed that the Modern Warfare 3 “Paid DLC” will only include new maps.

However new evidence of the map terminal has appeared on the Xbox LIVE network under theatre mode. A video (found below) reveals an online game of One in the Chamber being played on the Terminal map, it looks pretty legitimate considering it even has the picture there. Unfortunatley no one can view the video since we don’t have the map to do so but this could hint at the Nostalgic Map Pack being all to true!

The Nostalgic Map Pack was teased a long time ago, the 25th of November to be exact and showed off the following: “Check out the picture they posted below, it shows off 4 previous Modern Warfare maps which are as follows:

  • Terminal from Modern Warfare 2 (Set in an Airpot terminal, luggage and planes everywhere, lots of glass too!)
  • Favela from Modern Warfare 2 (The slums of Rio de Janeiro, lots of ground and rooftop battles!)
  • Shipment from Modern Warfare (The smallest Call of Duty Map you’ll ever see! It’s basically as square map with a few shipping containers in the middle! The most intense map ever!)
  • Crossfire from Modern Warfare (A map I personally loved, great for sniping along the large main road and great close quarters combat in this desert town!)”

Although the date on the Image is clearly wrong, the new video above does give it a little mode credability.

The full quote of the Infinity Ward developer who confirmed that only new content would appear in the DLC seasons is as follows:“We’ll attempt to give you a better heads up on release timing moving forward. One of the issues we face is we sometimes don’t receive release date notification from the first parties and internal QA until late in the day.

I can confirm that paid DLC will consist of all new maps, missions etc.

Cheers,””

We find it unfortunate that no classic maps will be included in Modern Warfare 3 in the paid season, former Creative Strategist Robert Bowling thought classic maps should be returned in Modern Warfare 3 for free, as the developer said though “PAID” DLC will not include classic maps, that doesn’t mean we could get some classics released for free right!? (Highly unlikely but one can hope).

A little invesgatory work also leads to some information which could destroy all the information above though, we did a little digging around the user who uploaded the video to theatre (Coder123), although Xbox LIVE doesn’t give out a great deal of information the user is friends with two people called “Mods Activated” and “MW3 Mod Lobbies”. The video upload could be a mod that him or his team have been working on but it could be a bit of viral marketing from Infinity Ward to get the hype growing!

We really hope that some classic maps will return in Modern Warfare 3, especially if they are going to be free, it’d be such a great gesture on Infinity Ward’s part and bring back much love which seems to have been lost towards them from the community! What classic maps would you want to return in Modern Warfare 3?

Content Collection Map Pack 2 Release Dates:

Xbox 360: 22nd May 2012
PlayStation 3: 21st of June.
PC: 21st of June.

If I am an ELITE Premium member, do I need to download Collection 2?
No. Collection 2 is intended for players who have not yet subscribed to ELITE. ELITE Premium players on the Xbox 360 already have access to all of this content and can download the first 6 DLC drops at any time.

The second map pack for Modern Warfare 3 will include the ELITE Content Drops 7 through to 12.

The first map is called Sanctuary. “Suspended in the air one thousand feet up, you’ll battle more than altitude in the towering sandstone monasteries of Central Greece. Formed over millions of years, this sanctuary’s natural rock pillars have repelled invading armies and withstood the ravages of time but now they’ll face your deployment. Test your skills—and the ancient monks’ craftsmanship—with your arsenal of SMG’s, assault rifles and shotguns. Just remember: don’t look down.”

Truly a Modern Warfare 3 map like no other it adds great diversity into the collection of existing multiplayer maps as you battle in a classical little village with stunning visuals. A large outer circuit opens up long sight lines along the perimeter, circling a central monastery filled with tight hallways and sharp corners. Success requires the ability to focus your attacks and wait for the right moment to make a move. You can play it safe by sticking to the outside, but you’re likely to get left out of combat as the battle moves on.

The second map is called Foundation. “Journey into the heart of South Korea for a decommissioned concrete factory where the cement flows and bullets fly. After decades of constructing roads and buildings, the towering facility is now a perfectly-constructed combat zone for sniping and run-and-gun rules of engagement. Don’t stand in awe of the towering concrete crusher at the center of the factory unless you want to see your kill ratio meet the same fate.”

Foundation reminds us of a more industrial version of Quarry and Fuel from Modern Warfare 2, it has lots of buildings you can enter, ladders you can climb and jumping areas! Vertically the map is pretty daunting and seems huge but as you start to get used to it, you’ll realise its actually fairly small so it is great tactical map similar to Dome and Hardhat.

Foundation’s abundant verticality challenges teams with key vantage points surrounding the environment. While the upper levels give a clearer view of the field, however, multiple entryways allow easy access for ground units to flank and surprise snipers attempting to gain an advantage. Coordinate with your teammates to best determine enemy location and take the ground with the least exposure.

The next piece of new content is a multiplayer map called Oasis (ELITE Content Drop 9): Though once a picturesque escape for vacationers, the sprawling Hotel Oasis is now a Multiplayer paradise, with multiple lanes of combat built atop an ancient fortress.

ELITE Content Drop 10: With Kill Switch, one player is on the ground who’s mission is to detonate an E.M.P while the seconadry player is a armed with a sniper rifle and is providing cover for the player on the ground who will eventually get to call in a Reaper at the end of the mission. Kill Switch takes place in Russian Industrial Docks.

ELITE Content Drop 11: Ironclad is a great, brand new special ops mission that takes you back to the campaign in Goalpost. Delta is sent in with S.A.S to escort out the last Tank Division. A brand new mechanic where one player will control the tank. You’ve got one person on the ground who is an infantry man, armed with C4 which you can plant on verious obstacles to open a path for the tank and the other who controls and drives the tank, giving you the ability to use the 100 calibre gun on top or the main beast to take out enemies and other vehicles.

A new set of Achievements / Tropies will be released with Ironclad and Kill Switch, they are as follows:

  • Helipocalypse: Destroy 6 helicopters in the “Kill Switch” Special Ops mission.
  • EMPressive…: Complete the “Kill Switch” Special Ops mission on Veteran difficulty.
  • One-Four-One: Complete the “Kill Switch” Special Ops mission on any difficulty.
  • Don’t Tread on Me: Complete the “Iron Clad” Special Ops mission on any difficulty.
  • High Roller: Complete the “Iron Clad” Special Ops mission on Veteran difficulty.
  • Not a Scratch: Finish with your tank at full health in the “Iron Clad” Special Ops mission.

Face Off is a brand new play style / game mode, created specifically for Multiplayer in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. The new game mode includes “sub-game modes” of either TDM or Kill Confirmed” but the basis behind the new game mode is Mini-Fights, involving 1v1′s or 2v2′s.

Face Off has small maps, custom created to have sight lines and layouts to keep you the action quickly. Engagements occur quickly and regularly so you don’t spend a huge amount of time running around the map searching for the enemy.

Face Off is a great way to see who the best player is amongst your friends in maps that are small enough to make it fun and even.

There will be two playlists for Face Off, either a 1v1 playlist or a 2v2 playlist. (Also available in Split Screen!)

Face Off Map: Aground (Free to all MW3 Players): (Available to all MW3 members): Head to Scotland’s Orkney Islands for the latest “Face Off” map, where treacherous cliff faces, networks of caves and the rusted and ruined remains of a grounded transport ship provide for constant combat.

Face Off Map: Erosion (Free to all MW3 Players): (Available to all MW3 members): Make your way through Mediterranean ruins and ancient aqueducts, using leftover Roman masonry for thousand-year-old cover in this new “Face Off” map. An epic visual experiance, brilliant architecture which is built around a 2v2 gameplay style. This map has three main routes, two down the side and one down the middle.

ELITE Content Drop 12: (Two Face Off maps for ELITE members, Lookout & Getaway):

Lookout: (Extra Face Off map only available to Content Collection 2 owners or ELITE Premium members): Carved into a combat-weary mountainside, this new “Face Off” map pits you against your opposition in a forward observation base littered in chokepoints and tight corridors. Set in the hills of Afgahnistan.

Getaway: (Extra Face Off map only available to Content Collection 2 owners or ELITE Premium members): The first “Face Off” map in Modern Warfare® franchise history, what once was a tropical beach getaway boasting exotic aquariums and oversized pools is now a haven for ruthless run-and-gun violence.
