August ELITE DLC Drops for PlayStation 3 on the 16th

Brand new multiplayer maps are on their way to the PlayStation 3! It has been a few months since a new multiplayer map has been released for Modern Warfare 3 on the PS3, mainly due to the brand new Face Off game mode but new ones are on their way and will be available on the 16th of August.

August will hold three pieces of new content in total for PS3 ELITE members, two multiplayer maps and one Spec Ops mission. (ELITE Content Drops 13, 14 and 15).

Check out the three new bits of content below:

ELITE Drop 16 is a Multiplayer map called Decomission. A graveyard of rotting [or add decommissioned here] ocean liners has not only given birth to a shantytown of locals, but a mid-sized Multiplayer Map populated in chokepoints; providing the perfect setting for shoreline-based combat.

ELITE Drop 17 is a Multiplayer map called Offshore. Trapped on an oil rig in the middle of the ocean, you have nowhere to go but directly at your enemies in this new Multiplayer map boasting helipads, cranes, and countless perches for snipers eager to pick off the competition. Did we mention to look down or else you may fall off?

ELITE Drop 18 is a brand new Spec Ops mission called Vertigo. The luxurious “Oasis” hotel in Dubai hosts the latest Special Ops mission, in which players must use laser-guided RPG’s to dispatch waves of helicopters. Utilize rooftop advantage to defend from waves of enemies, before parachuting to a ground-level exfil point.

Modern Warfare 3 sanctuary map

PlayStation 3 ELITE members get content drops 7 & 8 this Thursday 10th of May

The April Content Drops 7 & 8 will be available for PlayStation 3 ELITE Premium members this Thursday (10th of May 2012), the two drops are brand new Multiplayer / Survival maps called Sanctuary and Foundation.

The Information was revealed by the Official ELITE Twitter feed: “PS3 ELITE Premium members get two new Content Drops this Thursday: #MW3 maps Sanctuary and Foundation. RT if you’re a #PS3 owner.”

The first map is called Sanctuary. “Suspended in the air one thousand feet up, you’ll battle more than altitude in the towering sandstone monasteries of Central Greece. Formed over millions of years, this sanctuary’s natural rock pillars have repelled invading armies and withstood the ravages of time but now they’ll face your deployment. Test your skills—and the ancient monks’ craftsmanship—with your arsenal of SMG’s, assault rifles and shotguns. Just remember: don’t look down.”

The second map is called Foundation. “Journey into the heart of South Korea for a decommissioned concrete factory where the cement flows and bullets fly. After decades of constructing roads and buildings, the towering facility is now a perfectly-constructed combat zone for sniping and run-and-gun rules of engagement. Don’t stand in awe of the towering concrete crusher at the center of the factory unless you want to see your kill ratio meet the same fate.”

Black Ops 2 Worldwide trailer & details officially RELEASED!

The day is finally upon us! Black Ops 2, the next installment from the best selling Call of Duty franchise will be officially revealed to the world.

Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.

Black Ops II
propels players into global conflict featuring advanced weaponry, robotics, and drone warfare in a new Cold War scenario whose seeds are being sown in today’s headlines. New graphics technology drives the stunning cinematic action of the single-player campaign’s branching storylines and non-linear missions.

Black Ops 2 will mark the first time ever a Call of Duty game will be set in the not to distant future. Call of Duty made a name for it self when it was originally set in the World War 2 era, when the boat was pushed out and the first Modern Warfare game was released, it was met with astoundment. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is commonly regarded as the best Call of Duty game to date. Will Call of Duty 9: Black Ops 2 mark a similar achievement as it offers gamers an experience like nothing ever before seen in Call of Duty?

Black Ops 2 was on the 1st of May. A YouTube video which can be found below is the full, official release trailer. The trailer is now available, watch it on the YouTube player below.

In an Roll Call interview on YouTube between Dan Amrich and the studio head of Treyarch (Mark Lamia), lots more information was revealed about the new title: “With Black Ops 2, Treyarch is pushing the boundaries out on every front. So on the campaign we’re going to be going to the near future, a little more than a decade in an entirely new setting with all kinds of new gameplay.

We’ve done a lot of research into making this plausible near future scenario really resonate with the players and we are very excited about it. We are going to have branching storylines, new non-linear gameplay elements that we’ll be designing into the campaign and that’s just going to make for a lot of great new experiences for people that like to play the campaign.

If you like Zombies you’re going to be happy with what we’ve got in Black Ops 2, it’s out biggest, most ambitious zombies ever.”

As far as it goes on the ELITE front, you can expect some real deep integration inside of Black Ops 2.

Black Ops 2 will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, the release date is 13th November 2012.

The full Black Ops 2 Official site can be visited here.

Full synopsis of official trailer video (From the point of view of Sgt. Frank Woods):

Aside from the fact that I’m still alive, none of this suprises me.

Technology got stronger… but we got weaker.

We built computers, robots. Pure unmanned armies and no one ever asks… what happens when the enemy steals the keys.

And the things they built to keep us safe, would turn against us.

That’s when they figured it out… they’ll always need men like us! Those who are willing to do, what other cannot.

Black Ops 2 screenshots below looking very futuristic (Maybe not the horses though!).

Dan Amrich (The official headliner for Activision) has written a huge article on his blog about Black Ops 2, revealing a massive amount of information about the game, the most noteable bits are as follows:

“A housekeeping note: The game’s official title is Call of Duty: Black Ops II, with a colon and the Roman numeral.”

“Welcome to the future — and the past.
The game’s narrative is split into two eras — the Cold War of the 1980s and the second Cold War taking place in the year 2025. The villain, Raul Menendez, spans both time periods; we learn about what created him during the previous Cold War and what makes him so pivotal in the next. Black Ops II will also answer the questions posed from the first game — namely, what was reality and what was in Mason’s head?”

“This war isn’t science fiction.
Black Ops II’s future Cold War needed to be rooted in the actual present. Today, China controls 95% of the world’s rare earth minerals, a critical resource used in electronics, new energy tech, hybrid cars, and military equipment like F35s and missile guidance systems.”

“Quadrotors are just the beginning.
That’s the cold war; what about when it heats up? As game director Dave Anthony puts it: “Warfare, up until very recently, has been hundreds of guys shooting at each other across a battlefield. But warfare has been completely redesigned, and 15 years from now…” You saw the quadrotor in action and you probably have seen the BigDog project; more and more of the military is turning to unmanned drones to keep humans out of harm’s way.”

Branching storylines and player choice rule.
The playable level I saw — an escort mission protecting the President through a semi-destroyed downtown Los Angeles in 2025 — began with a choice: Snipe or Rappel? You’ll be able to pick paths during levels that better suit your play style or sense of adventure.”

Get ready for Strike Force Operations.
Strike Force Operations “have a very meaningful influence on how the story progresses,” says Dave Anthony. In these missions, you choose which mission to play and who to play within them. You can swap between people within the squad, or you can also just control the drones — be the quadrotor, if you want — or you can be in Overwatch mode and control from a top-down perspective, almost like a tactical strategy game. But at any point, you can pick a soldier on the field and zoom in instantly to take their place. These are open sandbox levels.”

Storytelling is key.
Mark says Black Ops II will offer “an epic story that’s going to span generations.”

We’re in for a visual overhaul.
Dan Bunting, Treyarch’s Director of Online, showed some of the graphical upgrades Treyarch has been working on – what he called a mix of “tech and technique.” He walked us through an unpopulated level on Socotra Island in Yemen that showed off HDR lighting, bounce lighting, and self-shadowing

“Zombies is going to be big.
Mark Lamia didn’t want to beat around the undead bush: “I’m not going to hide it from you – it’s a Treyarch game, we’re making Zombies. It’s a huge world, running inside the multiplayer mode. There are new game modes; it’s bigger and better”

“Multiplayer is no longer a one-size-fits-all solution.
Yes, there will be multiplayer, but no, they’re not talking much about it yet, and no gameplay was shown. But game design director David Vonderhaar did offer a few cryptic clues: “Multiplayer is no longer a one-size-fits-all solution. We’ve stripped the game back a lot and started from a very core place” with a goal of supporting the broadest range of players and play styles.

If you’ll indulge me, I’d like to offer an editorial comment: This strikes me as a lot more info than I expected to get at this point. I saw the hints, teases, and unfortunate leaks that everybody else saw, and I saw a lot of people smugly saying that they had found out the name of the game — as if spoiling that piece of information was a personal trophy.”

So much official information right there on the brand new Call of Duty! Check out Dan’s full blog post with even more details here.
